Discussion about Sikter - Queen Of The Disco
Buridora
Queen Of The Disco is a concept album about the narrator going into a disco, where he sees a woman that he instantly becomes infatuated with. And so the story begins... Musically, most of the songs are some sort of rock-funk-disco fusion, at times a little reminiscent of Jamiroquai. Great musicianship, great songs, fun concept, really good production (the first song has a little white noise in the background, giving it the feeling of tape)... It's a really good album, not very experimental, but still pretty unique. The best song, to me, is the hidden track "Trideset je godina", which translates to "Thirty Years" or "It's Thirty Years", depends on how you look at it. I like it the most because I have some weird emotional connection to it. The song is musically simple, with only four, a little dissonant chords on guitar picked note for note that go round in circles. It sounds a little melancholy, and is a perfect companion to the lyrics. The lyrics are among the greatest I have ever heard, and that's no exaggeration. It's a little diffcult to hear parts of the lyrics in a couple of lines in the first verse, because of a delay effect on the vocals, but in all, the song is beautiful. In short, it's about the fact that "dust" is closer step by step and day by day. One great line is "only darkenss is faster than light, to go to the sky/heaven you need a hole in the ground". It's much more poetic in Bosnian: "od svjetla jedino brža je tama, za odlazak u nebo treba ti jama".Anyway, it's a great album by an excellent and extremely underrated band!
